Pargo Productions and Pro Basketball Player Jeremy Pargo Celebrate Nomination of "The Final Play" at the American Black Film Festival

Miami Beach, FL – Pargo Productions is proud to announce the nomination of its debut feature film, "The Final Play," for the Narrative Feature category at the 28th edition of the American Black Film Festival (ABFF). Directed by Tailiah Breon and penned by Jeremy Pargo and Barshea Lowery, this romantic comedy features a compelling cast, including Jeremy Pargo, Hazel Renee, and Jerod Haynes. The film will have its U.S. premiere at ABFF, a festival recognized for highlighting a rich diversity of Black cinema and talent.

"The Final Play" finds itself in illustrious company within the 2024 narrative lineup at ABFF, competing alongside films featuring some of entertainment's most iconic talents. This year's impressive roster includes "Albany Road" starring Renée Elise Goldsberry, Lynn Whitfield, and J. Alphonse Nicholson; "The Lost Holliday," featuring Vivica A. Fox; "The Waterboyz" with Alani "La La" Anthony and Quavo; and "Black Heat," starring Jason Mitchell. These films represent a vibrant spectrum of storytelling and star power, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive festival.

Director Tailiah Breon shared her thoughts on the nomination, "Getting acknowledged with ABFF on a first-ever attempt at a script and movie speaks a lot to the heart, execution, and persistence of everyone who was a part of the Pargo Production family. This film proves that it’s possible to make stories of impact when you lead with a good story and find the right people who want to be a part of that."

Executive Producer and lead actor Jeremy Pargo added, “To be selected for such a festival like ABFF has sparked every emotion, from being excited, to nervous, anxious, and humbled. To be selected off the strength of being a good film speaks to the testament of the work that was put in and to everyone that was involved; the entire cast from Hazel Renee to Vanessa Fant to Navv Greene to Jerod Haynes, who was a big part of why I gave this acting thing a real shot. But I am extremely humbled to have our film in the same likes and breath as the amazing talent at ABFF.”

We invite everyone to join us in Miami Beach on Thursday, June 13, at 5 p.m. at the Miami Beach Convention Center—Screening Room 2, where "The Final Play" will be showcased

among the best of this year's film entries. Winners will be announced at the "Best of ABFF Awards" on June 15. For more details about purchasing individual tickets, please visit ABFF’s website here.
